Great book that explains concisely how to preach a sermon without notes. It includes all the preparation, laying out a schedule for the week., from choosing a text, taking notes, making an outline, editing the outline, memorizing the sermon, and preaching the sermon. For me, this is the best method for preaching, from both a public speaking perspective and a spiritual perspective.

I’ve been preaching without notes for a while and wanted to broaden the scope and depth of my sermons. I’ve written two sermons using the author’s suggestions and they were well received. My process does differ from his, but the basic actions remain the same. Mostly I find I’ve had to simplify what he has said. I wish I had known about this book when I was in seminary.

This is a great book to use to study Greek in preparation for preaching. HOWEVER, you do need to set aside time and quiet to learn. This is not a book to skim, but to slowly incorporate new knowledge. Very helpful.
